Birdwatching is one of the fastest growing leisure
time activities in the world and Oman is the central
corridor in the migratory pathway of thousands
of exotic birds journeying between Asia and Africa.
The sandy shores and green lagoons of the coast
are fine places to find an array of birds - from
herons to storks and white flamingos, flotillas
of finely marked ducks, unusual terns, sandpipers
and so many others.
Be prepared for beautiful colours and spreading
wings as we drift in from the sea close to the
shore. Birdwatching is a peaceful, tranquil activity
that encourages you to escape into flight and
freedom. Expert guides will explain the different
species and their habits.
To give you just a sample of the wonderful variety
to be found in the capital area and close by:
The Al Ansab Lagoons in Muscat attract: the Black-necked
Greche; the Ferruginous Duck; many kinds of eagle
including the Imperial; the Spotted Red Shank;
and, the Egyptian Nightjar.

At Yitti, a picturesque village on the coast with
glorious white sand beaches, we find the Great
Black-headed Gull, terns, herons and waders. And
among the great variety of birds to be found at
Ras al Sawadi are falcons, warblers, waders and
the Yellow Throated Sparrow.
